Murder the bird, now!
I would insist it goes to a Honda garage, their peacock caused the damage, they should pay for it on your terms - simple. Don't accept some cut-price job, you're looking at a full respray there so it ain't going to be cheap. If they have a problem with this - tough, they should have better control of their pets.

Mike - nightmare
I can't remember enough of my scots law, to say if the legal position is the same as MT and Craig have described, but the 2 systems are never that far apart IIRC.
At least the owner has admitted liability, so that must be a starter for 10. If he has other animals, he may well be insured bu the NFU for damage caused by his beasties - you could then be able to make a claim as Neil described.
Good luck.

You're opening yourself up to all sorts of problems in the future if you don't get it done by a Honda approved dealership.
I'd report it immediately to you insurers and let them take care of it Mike. And tell them you want the bird put down!

is there any insurance a private individual may have that could cover this??
home insurance, pet insurance, public liability?
bearing in mind he also has 2 hunting dogs etc.
seems to me that if not he really should have!

now if I had crashed it/bent it/broke it or done something stupid then I have no problem with being held to account by the insurers but in this case I am very pissed off!!!
If I am going to claim I would have wanted it to be a PROPER claim preferably involving a written off S2000 so I could get a new one!
Then at least I would only have myself to blame for subsequent insurance hell!
