And for my next challenge...
Got my textured gear knob from Mikey K this morning - hurrah!
I'm trying to remove the nut that goes under the gearknob, but it's just spinning away in either direction (clockwise or anti-clock, doesn't matter) without it going anywhere - almost like it's come off the thread or something.
Anybody got any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of is to saw the knob itself in half (taking care not to damage the stem inside obvs.), though I'm the first to admit I've no experience of actually doing so - and of course you'll destroy the original knob.

has the new knob got the double-h markings on it or is it plain? cos if the latter why not just screw it on for now. only problem if it's marked is you might not be able to line it up straight.
sounds like the thread's gone.
