Cheers guys for the comments.

The dealer had the car for a few weeks while I was on holiday and did a few bits to it - New discs / pads, rebuilt the rear calipers, new NSF caliper. They also did an alignment on the car which they managed to break one of the alignment bolts off, so had to order some in.

All in all i'm very happy with my S. A blast on the mountain road up Rhayader is on the cards very soon once the weather clears up.

The number plate will be staying on the car but I will definitely be getting a valuation

Apparently the DVLA are changing (have changed?) the rules on spacing... So you could have it as S2000 YO....

I can't see anybody wanting to spend 5k for a reg plate for a 5 or maybe 10k car?

Can you quote the source please? I've just had a mosey at the DVLA section of the .gov.uk website and it still states 14mm between characters and 33mm between character groups.

I've just purchased some show plates (ahem...) for the car and if they are now legal I'll be a happy bunny
