The exit had 2 lanes do you think this will make a difference?

Quick update had the insurance people around today, they say I can go ahead and get the car fixed . Which is good news, he has made a note of all the visual damage. But he has said the body repair people need to get underneath and see what needs fixing regards suspension etc.

We can also have 3 new alloys and tyres, got a result there because only the back 2 are caused by the accident. The front 1 was me doing some kerb damage . This was a relief as I have 18inch Zigens, they are declared on the insurance but you often think will they honour it when it comes down to replacement time.

Another good thing we can take it to any bodyshop we please, so tomorrow it's being taken to our friends place to be fixed. We have used him many times and his work is always spot on, keep you updated as more comes in........cheers Maria.

I am never silly enough to assume anything on the road but, it is often "assumed" that if there are two lanes on the roundabout and two lanes on the exit then you can be in either lane to exit at that point. This therefore assumes that those cars in the outside, or left lane, will definitely be exiting.
On some roundabouts it is signed that this is the case, on some it is not.
As mentioned before it's such a grey area, in reality it's very difficult to say who should be where doing what.
Which is why it's always best to keep an eye on the car in front and not ram into them Which is why she was in the wrong, imo. That and the fact that you were indicating.

I'm sure I'm not alone in coming around a roundabout in the right lane and being annoyed by the car in the left lane continuing past the exit I'm "assuming" they are coming off at, but I will always watch for the indicator and "expect" them to do what I am not expecting.

...

I'm not exactly sure what the highway code says about it

I'll stick my neck out here and disagree with the rest.
If you require an exit that is more than half way around a roundabout then you take an inside lane around the roundabout, ie nearest the center. This is standard procedure unless the road markings direct you to do otherwise. I won't bore you with the 'Highway Code' entry, we all know what it says.

I would suggest as the exit you are talking about was two lanes the driver already heading for an exit wrongly assumed you would be leaving the roundabout also hence the confusion. Its ridiculous for others to imply the impact was a delibrate act, I find that highly unlikely.

Finally bear in mind when making the claim that apart from being in the wrong lane for the chosen exit, the other party was already on the roundabout before you, hence they have the right of way.

Sorry to see anyone out of pocket but if you are lucky you may get away with 'knock for knock' on this one....

PS, we have a 1L Micra beater as well, you cant knock 'em!
