I think tyres make a major difference to the S. When my tyre pressures are off, or low on tread, the car feels crap, and very draining to drive. With fresh rubber on, the ride is so much better and the car feels like new.

Check in this order

1. Tyre tread front and back (mine felt like the geo was masssively out last year but my rears were almost bald in the middle - problem fixed with new tyres). Also check the inside edges of the tyres

2. Tyre Pressures (when cold)

3. Get your suspension geometry checked

Respraying to a faster colour normally solves most niggles.

I suppose the artic conditions in Wales mean you should use 0w oil
