My Alarm Went Off This Morning....
So there I am this morning, having just finished the nightshift at work and dropped off a work mate, I set off on my way home through town, only to be stopped in my tracks by a set of temp lights!
Traffic was creeping forward slowly, so i just let it creep forward in first gear. Whilst this was happening, I reached into my trouser pocket to get my wallet out. It was at this instant that the hazards started flashing on the dash and i relised it was actually my alarm that was going off!
Slight panic ensued, and a quick glance in the rear view mirror at the car behind, the driver was peeing himself laughing! Quickly I fumbled with fob on the keys and hit the unlock button, which seemed to solve the problem!
Has anyone else had this problem. The only thing i can think that happened was in reaching for my wallet, my leg hit the "lock" button on the keyfob? but surely with the keys in the ignition, engine running and car moving, the car would know that its not being stolen or broken into, as its moving with the keys in it!
Very strange, I dont like alarms at the best of times. Bloody waste of time and no-one ever takes any notice of them anyway, unless your in a queue of traffic with it going off

To quote from the Hamilton & Palmer alarm booklet:
"PANIC FACILITY
The panic mode can be operated at any time by pressing the raised button on the remote handset, continuously for 3.5 seconds.
When operated the siren will sound and the indicators will flash for 15 seconds, after which it will cancel automatically.
If the indented handset button is pressed during the 15 seconds, the panic operation will be cancelled. If the panic facility is operated while the vehicle is being driven, the ignition cut facility will not activate."

If you have read my thread 'Monte-Carlo or Bust', you would have seen that this happened to me last month in France (Day Four, Tuesday 20th July), i.e. the panic alarm went off.
This went on for almost 100 miles, and I had to keep 'unlocking' to stop it. The temperature at the time was in the high 30s, and I was sure that that was the cause.
In any event, after parking up at Oradour-sur-Glane for two hours, part of the time with the bonnet open, it did not occur again and has not happened since.
