A few of us are attending the MAC track day at Bruntingthorpe on Sat. I've just got a couple of questions:
Do you need to wear any particular clothing?
What should the tyre pressures be?
How much petrol should I get before the day?
Is there anything else I need to know/ check?
I have already got my lid as I don't want to hire one (was a requirement of the track) and am looking forward to the event.
Thanks!

Don't forget the race boots and some raybans for the press conference.

Alternatively, something that you'd usually wear do drive in - if you have a penchant for high heels, probably best to leave them at home in favour of some flats

I think most places specify covering your limbs, so you'd need a top with long sleeves.
Have a full tank of petrol - I averaged 11 mpg around Donington last week.

confortable clothing and some flat, preferably thin soled trainer type shoes you can feel the pedals though. Makes learning to heel and toe easier. Some companies insist on covered arms and legs.
>What should the tyre pressures be?
2psi over standard or so but you may wish to play with tyres pressures as the day goes on.
>How much petrol should I get before the day?
a full tank. if its an open pit lane budget for 2 tanks and make sure you know in advance where the nearest petrol station is.
>Is there anything else I need to know/ check?
oil, oil, oil. Make sure you have plenty of meat on your brake pads. Empty all the crap out of the cockpit and boot. Fit your tow hooks front and rear before you go on the track. if you go off and have to be towed back onto the track you don't want to be messing about fitting them in a hurry and all the time you are off track no other cars will be allowed to run.
oh and don't check how hot your brakes have got by touching an alloy, particularly the fronts. they got hot enough to take the skin off your finger.

Have fun. I'll put money on you becoming addicted!

One of the guys at the Nurburgring measured his disc temp after 13 minutes of driving and they were 150 centigrade, that's enought to take your finger off! it's also at the limits of the brake.

AS with above, if it's a BAT then limbs covered is a must. Don't touch your brakes if at all possible on the warm down lap, use engine braking. Watch others to learn what to do and what not to do. It's reasonably easy to learn the line of the track this way.
So top tips:
FULL tank of petrol
Screw your tow hooks in
Cover limbs
Check oil brakes and tyres before you start.
AND FINALLY, the is VERY IMPORTANT. Important enough for me to shout:
If someone's been behind you for a while, that'll mean they're quicker than you so let them past. It's not a race. I don't care if it's a crappy Civic or Mini or whatever. You have no idea what they've done to it and they could just be a better driver so LET THEM PAST.
Admittedly, you might not find yourself in that situation, in which case it doesn't matter, but don't annoy people, they'll hate you and you can get black flagged for it.

Cheers for the advice all! I'm prepared for the fact that I'm gonna become addicted, I've already got the 1st Lotus day booked for next month, will have to see after that!
Just checked the location of the nearest shell...
Will check oil & tyre pressures this evening.
See you tomorrow Ian! How much was your lid btw?
