The MX5 owner wave

The MX5 owner wave
So I've only owned my S2K for over a Week now and loving every minute of it. I've also only covered around 200miles. My question is I've seen one S2000 in this time and many, many MX5s from very early Mk1s to the 16plate; in nearly all MX5s apart from one I've been waved at or got a thumbs up.
Now I love comradery between drivers. I have had many a chat with enthusiasts in the past it's part of the reason I drive what I drive and go to the events I go to but I worry that some of these MX5 drivers do not know we are in a different car!
I will go on waving back as I like to think I'm a polite S2K owner but if I get someone say "Nice MX5 mate" I'm not sure how I will react.

I too am a relative new owner and have also noticed this, Plus the fact I have only seen one other S on the road and that was the other side of a barrier on a dual carriageway.
Is it common for MX5 owners to wave.
In my Elise it was to any Lotus at all and vice versa

The only time I get complemented on my MX-5 is when my mates are taking the p!ss!

I don't respond. Had one the other week.
I don't think they can tell the difference as there's been so many variations of body style.
Never had any other convertible wave at me so I think it must be a prerequisite of mx5 ownership to have defective eyesight

To choose to ignore this could be seen as boorish, oafish, thoughtless, rude, arrogant and ignorant - or the other driver may simply assume you have defective eyesight.
