I've been and had a good look and i think its knackered. It just doesn't look right, the passenger side front is sitting low. the distance between the arch and rim is 2cm lower than the drivers side and something doesn't look quite right at the back either. Its almost as though the car is twisted in the middle somehow. I can't seem to figure out how to upload photos at the moment.

So ...... anyone want to buy a 05 mookrock? 2 very careful owners and in great condition apart from a couple of minor wheel scuffs.

Ill be phoning the insurance tomorrow, but I suspect it will be a right off.

Well, I managed it.....guess I really must have hit a patch of diesel. I was only 100m off a island and starting to accelerate.....obviously harder than I should have. The back broke away, I over compensated and spun.

It was your desire to get on the power that caused the issue, it's not a switch, there is no need to treat it like one, especially in the wet. It really doesn't take much to spin the back wheels up. Best advice for driving it in this sort of weather is look where you are going instead of where you are so that the focus is on being smooth, you can still be quick.

Hitting diesel is like going over black ice, you feel the front go light first and then the back shimmies and slithers, if you're ON the power or have the wheel turned, you will spin, how much is down to your inputs at the time.

I think if my driving skills were better I might have been able to recover.....hang on...if my driving skills were better I wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place. Either way, I'm considering going on a driving course before I get back in an S.

Tbh when you think the first ( and last ) driving lesson most of us have is our driving test ..... it's no wonder we don't have all the skills we need.

Lovegroova has been banging on about this for years and of course, he's right. The cheapest way to make the car faster is to improve the skills of the driver.

Is spilled diesel fuel epidemic in the UK. I honestly can't recall seeing much, if any, here.

I think it's mostly a roundabout (rotary junction ?) thing - you don't have many of those stateside, clearly that's where most of our "diesel" gets spilled

Overfilled tanks, tanks are on the left ( usually ) or missing / loose tank cap. Thats why i try and avoid the left lane on sharper roundabouts, both in the car and on the bike. If i have to go around them, it's at a steady pace and if on the bike, as close to upright as possible.
