Mr2 V S2000
Thought I'd go for a nice and easy cruise with my brother with his newly acquired MR2...
easy cruise - I don't think so!
I had him follow me at an easy pace on the A4 - first stop was the Shell garage for a top up of Optimax...
Anyway, I let my brother get into his power range (aroung 4000rpm) and then floor it - this is where the S2000 really shines I was still in first gear tinkering around 5500rpm and then just floored it - I flew by the MR2 like it was standing still! Okay the acceleration test was over - next the twisties!
I continued up through Chiswick and then through Acton and ended up on the A40 towards Heathrow. We approached several roundabouts and the S2000 took them with ease and such grace! No drama at all! But the MR2 was fish tailing and prooving a bit much for my lil bro! I was then waiting at a red light and saw a silver W reg S2000 drive past! As soon as the light went green - I gave chase and managed to catch up! I was behind him and flashed my lights - he gave me the thumbs up! I told him about the forum and he said that he's look into it. I must admit that I could hear his car really rattling and making some strange noises! Maybe he hasn't had any of the TSBs done?!
Oh well - it was a great day!
I still haven't seen any other S2000s on the road when I'm in mine! But I must admit my baby only comes onto the roads after 7pm! And I'm nearly always in London on Friday nights just for a blast in the Picadilly tunnel! Wow! Great stuff!
1500 miles so far and used about 1/2 a litre of oil! Topped up of course!

Strangely enough I was looking at a colleague's MR2 (P-reg) at lunchtime. Its racing green with large OZ alloys.
For a resonably old car it still looks quite modern and I much prefer the looks to the new MRS.
Another colleague had a black MR2 Turbo import but sold it to buy an Elise when the new style came out.
I thought the MR2 cabin was quite like the S2000's with the secret compartment etc.

Yeah I agree with you Dan - When I sat in the MR2 - I noticed the similarities straight away.
The imported turbos are absolute monsters! Very fast!!!!
My brother is only 18 and his is a G plate with 160 bhp - still pretty fast...
