Cheers for that db. As I suspected!

For those of you thinking I am being a wimp about this, I'm still in recovery from being very ill for the last 3 yrs +, so the ride quality can make a big difference for me.

the MR2 would be a perfect ride if had the 1.8 VVTi engine that has the celice T-Sport (190 hp) I was thinking in buy it and put it some mods.....

the S2000, 2002 model has a different ECU than previous year's model, the EDU was reprogramed and gives +10 hp.

Check also that the S2000 that you buy has pased the #4 cylinder TSB

Neil

I to have had an early '99 car and now have a new '03.

TBH I preferred the earlier car, I think the later car is a bit too soft, something I plan to rectify next year

IMO the '99 car was much sharper.

I have an 03 S2000 and love it on the long runs. I've now just passed four weeks of ownership, and I already have nearly 3000 miles on it. Very docile when you want it to be, but getting near to having enough power when you don't.

Best bit for me is the gearchange. Took a BoxterS owner out and he though that he was in an Auto it was soooo quick.

Preparing to get flamed here, but I think that it is an excellent every day car that can be tracked, rather than the other way round. If you want more extreme then tune a lotus.

I have an 02. You could hardly describe the suspension as soft, but I find it acceptable. The furthest I've driven in one run was about 200 miles and I felt fine at the end of it.

I've also driven an 01 and didn't think it felt any firmer. However, this may be more apparent when pushing and I wasn't.

I wouldn't say there was much to comprise the S as an everyday car other than typical sportscar carrying capacity. Even in this regard it's much better than most.

Like Gaddafi - I have an '02 - my longest trip has been 450-500 miles - 95% on A's & B's - an occasional stop for a cigarette break - but no problems - felt sorry when it was over.
Did my test drive in an '00 - didn't notice suspension difference - but then at that time I was falling in love with the gearchange

But then I guess if you're semi-convalescent - impressions cd be different.

Pete was talking about the differences at SM3. He said he liked both set ups but for different reasons. Maybe he can enlighten us further next time he checks out the board.

Neil - If the hardness of the ride is going to be a potential problem then you really need to borrow an 02 model for a test drive for a couple of days and do some serious mileage in it. Our local Honda dealer did this for us and we just told the insurance company it was a courtesy car (otherwise they were refusing to insure it). If you explain your quandry (but make out like you're intending to buy a brand new car) then I'm sure they'll be all too willing to help.
