Don't know !!

It used to be 56mph, but in the S, I can't stay anywhere near that

It's just for me.

Life is too short to worry about that. If economy is what you're after, then a diesel / hybrid beater might be more appropriate for motorways, whilst leaving the S for the A/B roads !!

It's 6th gear an not much more than 70.

There have been quite a few fuel skimpling topics lately - just get your foot down and enjoy it.

A 2 litre normally aspirated car is hardly thirsty!

Lowest revs in highest gear I would say.

about 60 is the most efficient speed in the S. I know once you get over 83 (in germany natch) fuel efficiency drops dramatically.

If you have to ask the question.... buy a diesel beater.

The S isn't designed for thrift motoring.

60 mph imo is the most fuel efficient speed to travel at, I have tried this only once, I managed to obtain 340 miles from a full tank of V Power. Then I went back to normal driving.

In my beater the MPG meter varies.... sometimes its more fuel effieicient to rev in 4th than to chug in 5th.

Whatever will let the engine pull with the minimum of effort i suppose.

As the S has bugger all torque, is it better at low revs? Do you need to use more throttle?

From recent experience I can tell you that 97 on the M20 costs you
