To be honest theres never been a better time, prices are on the up and as long as you get a decent one it will never depreciate. There are lots of decent ones around, but be careful of the dogs!!

[QUOTE=havoc UK,Mar 11 2006, 12:23 AM] Am I the only one that thinks 'ordinary' cars are getting too capable of doing high-speeds and high cornering speeds?

And am I the only one that puts driver involvement/enjoyment above outright pace?

Frankly, I couldn't give a f*** whether some new uber-hot-hatch was faster than my car (whatever that should be), as long as my car was more enjoyable and involving to drive. I've driven a number of 'modern' hot-hatches and performance cars, and found most to be underwhelming as a driving experience - a 15y.o. 205GTi would be more rewarding than a 350Z, a CTR, a Seat Leon Cupra, or even an Impreza WRX.

I'm not saying I want a 205 (frankly maintenance could be a nightmare, and I'm not that handy with a spanner), I'm just saying that comments like 'a modern 150bhp Fiesta could have it' rather miss the point of such cars.

Most amusing recent case...some chav found PistonHeads and, on a thread about the NSX, posted up how the Focus ST would be quicker!
1) Yeah, right!
