I've been running Bridgestone 020's on my CBR600F, which are essentially sports touring tyres and have been getting the 6,000 miles while still being able to lean the bike over and get to the edge of the tyre.

Like you say, the Blade will get through the super sticky / soft tyres it comes on in around 3,000 miles and may well overwhelm a less grippy sports touring tyre. I may well be on first name terms with my tyre fitter before long
