Front fog lights, reverse lights, rear wipers are not part of the test either but still fitted by manufacturers.

Slight change of subject but did everyone know that all pre 1960 cars and motorbikes are now MOT exempt?

So you can drive about in a car or on a motorbike that’s a 53 year old or older piece of crap that doesn’t stop - handle or is ready to fall apart because it is so rotten? Where’s the sense in that?

I don't make the rules, it does say the owner is responsible for maintaining the car/bike and the police can obviously still prosecute you for driving an unroadworthy vehicle.

'Owners responsible for maintaining' ministry are trusting aren’t they!
While I feel that most enthusiasts of classic and vintage cars will have their vehicles in a reasonable roadworthy condition I fear that there will be quite a number that won’t give a hoot what their vehicles condition will be in, eventually leading to some unfortunate loosing his or her life.
I am not anti classic or vintage vehicle orientated as I have had many a classic and restored quite a few, among them some high powered jobs, but I do feel that introducing a total exemption on the MOT for these vehicles is ridiculous, a more lenient/sympathetic MOT would have been more appropriate I would have thought.
