Default More nanny state !

There is a lovely road through Windsor Park, which I often use when coming home from the M4. It's a 50 limit most of the way, probably because there are car parks on both sides of the road, and doddery tourists getting confused. There's a short 60 at the end of the road.

It's a lovely, mostly straight, road - a couple of decent o/t opportunities, and a few sweeping bends.

As I drove through yesterday, I found they have installed those signs that flash up "Careful" with some twisty road signs if you are going too fast - fair enough.

However, I was doing 48mph at the time and it flashed at me - you can easily take these bends at 70+ in a normal car let alone the S, and I was doing UNDER the speed limit and have never seen an accident there !!!!

Proper nanny state stuff

Nanny state.... what are you on?

You might not have seen an accident there but I have

Road was closed all day and three people died.

That was only seven months ago.

There are also deer and other animals roaming around the park.

The A404 between Holmer Green and Amersham has a similar sign. There's a sweeping bend which is safe at 70mph in good conditions etc which is after a long straight, but has been the scene of many accidents, mostly overloaded Metros full of teenagers type stuff.

Needless to say the sign flashes even when you're doing sub 50mph behind a queue of numpties

The sign is pointless, unless there is one that flashes 'reckless' elsewhere!

'Caution' might be appropriate. 'careful' is not, since one should drive with care and attention at all times.

This modern ignorant, soppy, molly-coddled nursery English really fcuks me off big time.

At least they haven't put a speed camera there.

Those signs are annoying and feckin useless... i always drop a gear and floor it if one flashes up in front of me, safer than sticking two fingers up as i have both hands on the wheel!!

So why is the speed limit 50 and 60mph? If this is unsafe then post a lower speed limit surely ? Flashing signs when I'm doing UNDER the speed limit is no good - if the road is unsafe then a lower speed limit should be in place.

I'm on nothing - what are you on!
