More car jacking ......
***From civictype-r.co.uk***
Just heard a very good mate of mine who I work with had his S2000 jacked outside his house at gunpoint last night. He lives in manchester..as do I.
Another example of Manc car jackers..watch out. Im crappin myself now as I work in the area he lives..
Watch out people
**Next post**
Just seen my mate..he is in one peice.
The guy stopped him outside his house as he was about to get in the car.
He stood between the car and my mate and said "give me your keys".
My mate, for some unknown reason, said "no way", at which point he pulled a gun out and asked again.
My pal handed the keys over and asked if he could get his stuff out of the boot...no chance.
The guy was 5ft 11, balaclaved and gloved with a strong manc accent. He didnt fumble with the keys or starter button location, so clearly new the car fairly well.
My mate had been stopped as part of a routine police check earlier..and warned then that s2000's were very popular in the manchester area at the moment.
Needless to say i'll be taking some extra precaution from now on.
***End of thread***
This allegedly happened last week in atrincham/stretford....
I can think of better cars to rob at gunpoint.

Shocking!!
May be... but it's more for scarcity and value of parts. I know this happens in London too. Often people buy damaged cars and then get a stolen one to strip and use parts from.
Hand the keys over people remember the car will be insured, very few of us are.
[QUOTE=euan,Feb 12 2006, 05:40 AM]I suppose you're at about the same risk as walking around with

s2000's popular model to be stolen in Manc
Altrincham/Stretford-that'll be all 5 of us then

A sorry tale! A few wise precautions are the answer.
If in a "risky" area or you suspect "something" may happen. DO NOT go straight to your car. Have a GOOD LOOK round for shifty characters or "unusual" signs. If in doubt just leave your car there and come back for it later. A few minutes of obsevation could save not just your car but your life!

I can't find anything in the press about it and surely this would have made the press.

It scared this Neil! Guess where I live... between Altrincham and Stretford! But thanks to my local S2k'ers for doing a good job of trying to convince me that this is hoax story!
TBH, this is one of the main reasons I've been toying with NOT upgrading mine to a new model, but I don't suppose that's a good way of running your life... in fear of scum.
Like Moggy says, there can't be that many of us who have these cars round here; surely it would have been someone we know from here?
