Pre april 06 is much lower tax (by half). Things of value on the 06 onward are traction control (vsa), and slightly stiffened suspention on the 09. Personaly I hate the latest MX5 parts bin wheels, and the 04 wheels I like most (and are lighter than the 16's they replaced inc. tyres).
VSA is for girls, and the suspention tweaks on the 09 are nice, but the money you'd save on price/tax getting a pre 06 would get you some very nice coilovers and still leave change.

thanks woojah
Yeah the edition 100 would be ideal - before i knew it was coming out i'd picked the previous white with red leather as my colour choice - will see if the funds can stretch that far.
To be honest the EU/UK thing doesnt bother me at all - just wish it didn't bother the insurance company so much! takes the insurance for me from

Sorry but honda calls remote central locking keyless entry
You sill have to get the key out and zap the car to unlock / lock and still have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on before you push the fun button
I got a Volvo with proper keyless entry key stays in pocket for unlock / lock and start

Some insurers don't differentiate between EU and UK cars, so shop around. Another thing to keep in mind with some of the imported EU cars from supermarkets is that their warranty has often already been started and so you get less than 3 years.
When I was looking to buy, I checked out a car at Motorpoint (or motor-something...) and the warranty had already been 'running' for 8 or so months! So if you go down that route, make sure you are certain how long the warranty is for.
Oh and there is NO rationale for the difference in road tax! B@stards!

Priviledge so far has been the cheapest quote but they don't do EU cars at all which means the next best was elephant oh apart from another company which had the voluntary excess at

That's what i'd normally consider keyless entry to be! why not just call it remote central locking? i can't see how it can be keyless if you have to use the key but thanks for the heads up.
Technically still correct, though you're right, the way entry tech has moved on in other cars it is a bit misleading.
