Mobius dashcam

Mobius dashcam
A colleague recently had a fault accident where he hit another car from behind after taking evasive action following a white van swerving into his path. The guy he hit was quite understanding, and saw the van's move. They ended up getting it sorted it out via insurance. The white van drove off laughing apparently. Scumbags.
Anyway, got me thinking about getting a dashcam, partly for precisely this type of event, even though Im not sure what use it would be in the example above, and also to capture some nice drives. Having done a bit of research, I didn't want to spend a lot of money, wanted something as small as possible that would do the job and I could leave permanently in the car, without worrying to take it out each time. I settled on the Mobius, and have to say, its a cracking little camera. It doesn't have an lcd screen on it, so you cant review video, and cant make config changes to the camera unless its hooked up to a laptop, but that doesn't bother me too much, I wanted a compact a unit as possible.
A Google search did pull up a post on the forums of a member who had a Mobius, I cant remember their question, but save some huge thread resurrection I thought I'd ask anew.
So to cut to the chase, anyone who is running a Mobius, where did you mount yours?
Despite its diminutive size, with a (non right angled) USB lead plugged in, its a bit too big to sit behind the mirror, and in any case I think that would be visible. There's a nice little place on the plastic trim around the windscreen, adjacent and behind the latch for the roof, which allows great access for routing cables and has plenty of clearance for fiddling with latches. It also gives a nice perspective on the road. I was thinking of securing with Velcro which would make detaching easy if needed, and you cant see it from outside the car. The downside is the trim is at a slight angle, so the camera would record at said angle, which isn't the end of the world, but would be nice to have level. I'm thinking a double sided sticky strip might provide enough of a cushion to bridge the height differential, on which I can mount the Velcro.
Any thoughts?

This was the thread I was referring to. More a question of wiring than mounting. Court Jester, if you're around I'd be keen to hear how you're getting on?

As a side note, for anyone who is wondering about file size, I played around with it yesterday, testing various settings and so forth. On 1080p recording at 30fps, an hours footage would take up about 7.5GB (approx. 125MB a min). I have a 32GB micro SD card in there, so should be good for 4 hours worth of recording before overwriting previous footage. Its not like media is expensive (I paid about a tenner for the card), so might look to keep a spare in the car. Mine came with a SD card adapter, so its easy to take the little card out of the Mobius, pop it into the adapter, and then into a laptop or ipad with camera dongle.
Biggest surprise for me was audio, it was really good. What it will be like with road noise remains to be seen.

I have a möbius.. Great little camera.
It is mounted under the mirror with the optional sucker mount as I swap it between cars. You just need to set the unit to record upside down in the PC software.
I bought the 3 mtr extension cable and a dual USB charger which is fed from the lighter socket under the centre panel, dash and up the side and across the top of the screen.
So all I do is attach to screen, plug the wire in the back and it starts to record as soon as it has power, setting also with PC software.
I don't care if is seen as I remove it when I leave the car.

What I've done , with regards to wiring , is to fit a 4 socket extension under the driver's side of the dash opposite the fuse box and completely hidden and wired directly to the "live with ignition on " terminal on the fuse box.
My dash cam ( dvr 0801 )is behind the int mirror , totally out of my view ,including the wire , and comes on / off with the ignition .
My satnav cable and phone charger are left plugged in with the cables fed up the side of the dash with about 4 inches sticking out at the bottom of the windscreen pillar ready for use .

Interesting, I was strongly considering the DVR 0801, it got good scores on Amazon, but a few people seemed to complain the unit failed after a length of time, which put me off a bit. That said, somewhere online I found out it was the most highly recommended camera in some much more expensive company. I can see that due to its shape that would be easier to mount than the Mobius
As to wiring, I have a direct feed from the battery to a fusebox behind the plastic cover behind passenger seat that I installed when I put the heated seat elements in a while back. I have a USD to lightning connector to charge my iphone which I use for satnav attached to a modifry dash plate. Luckily I have a dual USB ciggy adapter, so was easy connecting another USB to mini USB cable for the Mobius, as well as the lightning lead for the iphone. I ran it under the door sill on the driver side, then round the pillar and up to the trim around the windscreen. All cables nicely out of sight.

Upgraded now to 0803 which is even better .
I'm sure I never read any thing about them failing but I do remember the Mobius tends to get very hot .
I went for the socket extender in its present position for convenience and aforementioned problem of different voltages for different products .
Whatever I plug in uses its original cable and the cable then gets tucked behind the door rubber/side of dash.
Simples .
My heated seats where wired to the exact same terminal on the fuse box with the cable running back through the door sill and all the control gubbins hidden behind the rear bulkhead plastics .
