Default Mobil 1

I know there are numerous threads on the subject of the best engine oil grade for the S,but my local Honda dealer use Mobil 1 in 0w40 grade,i thought the general opinion was in favour of 10w 40,i'm getting mixed messages at the moment. Is 0w 40 to thin,Honda dealers i've had service from in the past seemed to favour Castrol in a different grade from the Mobil 1.I realise opinions vary, but i would have thought all Honda dealers would be advised to use the same oil.

Used it religiously on my S2000 & it was sooooo smoothe it was unreal, sounded like a bag of hammers the one time dealers used their own Castrol or Shell (whoever was paying them more at the time) got it drained out a week later and went back to Mobil 1(their oil was used at a engine bolt recall...).

Would like to know if V389 GCU is still going strong...

Paul,

Did you use 0W40 or 10W40?

Mine has developed a horrid sort of tappety noise since a trip to the dealer for servicing and I wonder if changing the oil will help...

Cheers guys,i've had the car a few weeks now and it doesn't seem to be using oil.I remember that the same dealership used the Mobil 1 0w 40 in my EP3 Civic Type R.No oil consumption issues with that car either.I just felt a bit unsure about the best option given the differing opinions that owners have.Given that the S is a pretty specialised car,i want to make sure i'm getting things right on the maintainance side.

0 - 40W fully synthetic.

I hear all the arguments and understand I'm not trained in doling out oil advice, just used it from 4000 miles up to 28,000 happily with that one horrid exception...
