I have a spare set of injectors...if its one then I'm sure we could sort something out. Drop me a pm.

Hi
My mechanic has done a leak test ad cylinder 2 is leaking air like a good un. My s2000 has only done 37,000 miles---looks like a dodgy valve :-(
Has anybody else suffered this expensive problem?

I'm not sure, has it been a ragged/abused? - I'm not implying its your fault, potentially a misshift amongst other things at high rev's could bend a valve, bent rod etc etc.

You know that a certain amount of leakage is normal though, on an engine with 37k it will have a small amount of leakage.

Hi
Been looked after as far as I know, i am the 2nd owner. The leakage was about 75%. I know I have hit the rev limmiter a couple of times but would that do it??
Thanks
Steve

You have said the car runs fine apart from the light coming on is this still the case, as with 75% leakage that cyl would not be firing and you would feel and hear the miss fire, have you had you valve clearance's checked a tight tappet will cause a leak by but again you would feel a miss on idle, plus you would also get lambda codes,

There is a miss fire on tick over. we have now taken the head off and inspected the valves. My mechanic who has had several years experience has had a look at the seats and one of them has a definate ridge and believes it is a fault from factory machining as all other valves and seats are fine!!!!!!!!! just have to find the money to pay for it all :-(

Id still try the injectors mate seen as its a common problem and has the exact symptoms you describe. Surely its a worth a go before spending ££££?

Hitting the limiter on the way up will do no harm, thats what its there for, but on the way down the gears then the engine will be forced to run over 9K mechanically, thats not good.

Also have the valve clearences been checked? Worth doing along with the injectors before considering spending big bucks.
