@Lower - Mine is mainly in and around town, with spirited (read VTec) driving when possible. I do get better mpg when I do a motorway run, provided I stay at a steady 55-65mph. Anything above that and it's back to the 21-23mpg norm.

I'm still sceptical that there's not something amiss with your car.

The MY04+ cars do seem to get better MPT but i used to get 250MPT on my old MY00 and that was with reasonably spirited driving on a mix of slow town commute and then foot to the floor country roads.

Then i had a MAP problem and the MPT instantly dropped to 200 MPT. Fixed the problem and the MPT increased again.

Mine's always been around 23-24, so slightly better than Bharat's.

But I can match his numbers on empty, dry roads.

Nothing wrong there!

I get approx 200 miles per tank, and your post intrigues me Lower, so how can I fix my potentially broken MAP problem, by the way I recently put on a new Lamda sensor not made any difference to my MPG and a decat, again no difference .. so perhaps fixing this MAP thingamy might be a solution for me ?

Do a MAP whack as your first port of call, then lube or replace the O ring and if that still doesn't work replace the MAP sensor.

If none of the above work them i'll accept i'm wrong but there does seem to be a range of MPT on the MY00 cars. They either do 240+ or ~200MPT and my experience of car that did both was that the MAP sensor was faulty.

Did the lube o thing, no difference ... not tried whacking it ... how with what how hard?

Finally, how much is a new sensor and is it difficult to replace?

Cheers for your help.
