Default miles per tank

I was reading another post on here and the owner mentions he gets 300 miles+ out of a full tank! I'm lucky to get just over 200 miles...

Did the tank size change on the newer models? Mine takes about £50 to fill up...

I've had 300+ when doing all motorway driving but also had just over 200 when just doing the usual town driving. Depends on how you drive

This has been covered hundreds of times before.

The fuel tank is the same size (50l/11gal) on all the Model Years.

"Depends on how you drive" pretty much covers it, I've managed anywhere between 11 and 35 or so mpg, that's anywhere between 120 and 385 miles on a tank.

I'll add that it seems the newer cars tend to give much better mpg than the original MY00 cars.

For example, I get between 200-225 miles per tank on a regular basis (and have done since I bought the car in 1999). I have seen from the other threads that people (who have the newer cars) get easily up to 300+ miles per tank, so maybe there was something in the newer ECU fueling maps maybe ???

In my case, I'm not too bothered, it's SMILES per tank, rather than miles per tank.

If you have an iPhone, get the free fuel trip lite app. You have to fill the tank before it will calculate mpg, you enter the mileage, litres and price per litre then it gives you how many miles since the last fill, mpg and cost per mile.

Here are 2 different calculations based on 2 different uses;

Combined journeys, A roads and around town;
272 mi. trip, £1.179/L 78,640 miles 43.51L = 28.42 mpg £0.189/mi.

Holiday in Cornwall from Ipswich via Stone Henge!;
349mi. trip £1.169/L 78,368 miles 41.49L = 38.42mpg £0.139/mi.

Based on these 2 the average is 33.21 mpg. The only mod I've done is a replacement K&N filter.

HTH!

I get at least 300 miles from my 1999 JDM. Even with 10 more horses, i'm not using the stuff up. Most of my commute is at a steady 50-60mph in 6th, which helps no end.

Fester wrote a thread about his MPG/driving styles/MAP Sensor. May be an interesting read for you.

MAP or O2 sensor fault if your MPT is that low and you're not constantly VTECing everywhere.

I consistently get 280-300 MPT.
