Thumbs up Mileage

Hi all ,
Thinking of getting an S2000 cos I need a nice sensible slow car for a bit.... Trouble is, all the 2nd hand ones I'm looking at have varying high ish mileages, from 35k to 65k. That combined with reading through some of the threads on here talking about clutch and engine oiling problems has got me thinking.
If I get the S2000 it will be an only car used every day, and therefore miles will be piling onto it fairly quickly.
What sort of mileages do folks on here have on their cars, and what problems are expected on high mileage cars?

FAQ is top stuff BTW, buying guide thing has been a big help. Just curious as to what is considered too high mileage for these cars.

Cheers,
Tim.

I'm running 67500 with no problem so far. I've only had the car for 6000 of those, but there's been no major warranty claims that I'm aware of apart from the 054 clutch. Mine has mainly done motorway miles, which is very easy on the car (I'm still on original brake discs AFAIK)

PJL Is over 80000 now and I think he's on to his third or fourth clutch, but that includes quite a few track days.

Sounds good..
Is the engine oil starvation problem common, or more a case of bad news travels fastest, do you think?

Have had unreliable cars up to the back teeth now - looking for something RWD and reliable until I forget enough to want a daft car again!

Make sure the previous owner has regularly checked the oil (at least every 500 miles). If you're nervous, an extended warranty can be bought for around

Tim,
Depends what year you're looking at too.
I do know of a 2001 car with 20K on it and it's well priced.

A high milage with FSH is in my opinion a better engine than one that's had to have it's services because it's hit 12months and done 3K.

What you after have you checked the For Sale and Wanted forum?

Tim - they get quicker the more miles they put on

The car is ultimately on of the most reliable fast sports cars you can find, they do have a few glitches, but very few.

I've done 55K in mine
