HMM !! My previous post seems to have dissapeared ! So I said:

Hi,Mike.
Had my diff fitted on Friday ( Gear-X4.44 and Carbonetic LSD) Ist impressions as a passenger, car is quicker off the mark and and very taut and planted, had the collars put on the bushes as well, great fun around roundabouts tho Dave the Driver was behaving himself with me sat there!

BUT what a noise............Under acceleration and lift off an acceptable whine, but when just held at steady speed especially about 3-4k rpm sounds like a bag of nails. Dave horrified that he hadn,t checked and filled with oil! I will check this and change oil after 100miles I hope this will get better? Spent Thursday in MRI scanner (trying to find brain) and think inside of car is noisier!

Mike the car is looking great, am v jealous

AdrianK

If you are serious about the BC exhaust let me know, it's not on my car yet as having second thoughts about Dcb hassle.

Keep the mirrors, throw away the electric motors? I have thought of doing this tho its not in the spirit of complying with my regs worse luck. I'd do the same with the roof motors if I could.

Cheers for now
Adrian

Hi Adrain The bag of nails noise isn't good and unlikely to improve imo. Mine is the same and it's not right. Dixon is going to look at it soon.

They won't let you lose the elesctric mirrors and roof?! Any more info?

Not with the kit, but OEM Honda shims were used. It was carefully checked for backlash and blued for tooth contact. It's a very precise setting on the shim, and i've heard of lots of cases of it having to be adjusted. But it should sound spot on from the word go, speaking to lots of people who have had 4.44s fitted.

Hi Mark,
Drove it today and impressed by the change in take up speed to vtec (or is this just wishful thinking?)however noise at 5-10% throttle maintaining forward motion is horrible and not acceptable, it feels as tho gear actualy trying to cut through casing? Not happy! Best bit is driftability through corners, will have to spend some practice time to get this right!!

I run under roadgoing class (i.e. as showroom) and while fairly open re induction, exhaust, gears, engine internals, for example can change gear ratios but must retain OEM casing. However all bits, aircon, heaters, windows, roof, must operate as showroom i.e with electrics. Only showroom accesories so no silly wings. I know Matt had to put his OEM mirrors back on last year.

PM'd Dixon and will speak to him tomorrow, re giving him a ride. Has he heard your?

Cheers,
Adrian.
