Polished my knob... of gear selection yesterday.
It's not perfect (going to go over it again and work up to an even finer grade) and then flush-fill the lettering with some fresh black paint.
But, I'm really happy with how it came out!

I wouldn't mind having this done too. I current have a aftermarket one which the previous owner bought that I don't like. I like OEM. He gave me the old one which is badly marked by a ring..

It should be easy enough. Just mask off the leather. Start dry with something like 180 grit, work up to 800 dry, then switch to wet 800 and go up as high as you want to go. I'm gonna stop around 1500 / 2000. Then finish it off with metal polish like Autosol.

I assume they have some kind of lacquer on originally, and tahts what gets chipped. How hard was this to get off, and what have you put on to stop it corroding?
Im thinking of doing mine, its not that bad but it is chipped in a few places.

Cool, will do mine when I get some time. Yours looks great.
I thought it looked more like aluminium to me, but as you say Ti will withstand the test of time much better when polished up.
