Don't like the sound of it worsening.
If the plugs / packs / injectors are definately ruled out then i'd be tempted to ask them to check the valve clearances.
A new MAP sensor is a good idea - see if you can get one quickly. Anyone local can lend you their one for 20 mins?

My old man is reading your thread at home now and will have another look at the ca tomorrow. The MAP whack seems to sort it for a little while but it's that intermittent it could just be a coincidence!

Just typed loads of stuff 3 times and it didnt post
In short - corroded ECU loom is not uncommon and can cuase the symptoms you are seeing. A single loose wire is unlikely.
The low rpm / idle issue is worrying as it *could* suggest a minor rub or clearance issue which is overcome when at higher revs.
Get the MAP swapped (friendly local?) then check valve clearances.

Jonsey, I am fairly local and have a spare MAP.
I took mine out and replaced it to try and help with a kangarooing problem ... it didnt make a difference at all so I am assuming the old one is good.
I got a K&N filter, that sorted the kangarooing problem :-)

If this is plausable then it could have happened again, a long shot but do you have any ideas where the corrosion could occur?
Cheers
ETA valve clearances were checked 1500 miles ago by the dealer the last time the problem occured.
