Default Map sensor whack?

My intermittent misfire came back.

The dealer told me last time it was a loose connection on the ecu, which I was never quite convinced of, tried the ecu connections and nothing happened.

It was running rough from start up this morning so tried the MAP whack, it immediately stopped missing and hasn't done it since. I am hoping this is the problem.

Question is, if that was the problem will it need an new sensor?

Cheers

Maybe we could do a G/B on map sensors from Hardguy, As I would like a new one.

So that would make two of us, Is anyone else interested in a G/B?

Cheers

Probably not the MAP then!

It wouldnt hurt for a new one.

Did you have a thread on your misfire probs? Did you check the link in my signature?

2 threads here, the dealer told me it was a loose connection on the ecu!

The CEL came on this afternoon, we have checked most of the usual things, reset the ecu, checked the vacuum pressure wilst misfiring etc.

More often than not a MAP whack cures it for a while, although the misfire is happening more now for longer periods and more frequently!

It seems to only misfire whilst idling or on light throttle, open throttle seems OK?

I've only had to 'whack' mine twice in 5 years and both were after log periods of inactivity (2 week holidays).

The symptom is the car 'sluggish' in Vtec

Don't like the sound of it worsening.

If the plugs / packs / injectors are definately ruled out, as well as vac leaks, then i'd be tempted to ask them to check the valve clearances.

A new MAP sensor is a good idea - see if you can get one quickly. Anyone local can lend you their one for 20 mins?

No it's only playing up at light throttle / idle / lowish rpm, vtec seems OK.
