Malfunction light
The malfunction light has come on on my dashboard (looks like a gear box). According to the handbook it menas there is a problem with the cars emissions. Has anyone else had this come on and what was the outcome?
Thanks

It's a generic 'engine problem' light. You can read the code with the right software, but unless you've got that you'll have to pop down to your dealer ASAP. I think the most common cause for it coming on in the UK has been a fuel hiccup causing a momentary miss-fire which the ECU remembers.
Pop down to your dealer, get them to read the code and reset it then go from there. Most of the time, it's just a reset and check job.

Bigfecker,
I have had this happen once - straight after I had the car repaired (for damage to the front wing!) - the car was parked in the garage carpark - got in, turned it on and saw that light.
Went straight back in and got the techie guys to take the car and have a look - apparently after they interrogated the ECU (or whatever they do) they said that there was a problem with the air conditioning - they checked that and it was fine so they just reset the light - havent seen it since - but they did say that shoud the light come on that you should get it to a garage asap.
Hope this helps.

good luck with the problem. On a separate note, I love your avatar, just like Steves. I`m looking forward to the snow at christmas.
Take the car out, take a snap and tuck it away again. Never snowed that much last christmas.....and another thing.....all this great weather makes you forget one thing.................
(but I can`t find the pic right now )
