Thanks Oilman....... Looks like I've been had! 
Do you have any links to the research on Extralube ZX1? I did loads of searching on it before using it and the fact it didn't contain PTFEs seemed to make it "OK".... also loads of other people recommend it on other car forums....... lots of other mugs out there then!
Do modern engines like the S2000 or Boxster S contain many copper based parts that could be damaged in the way you describe?
