Before I did my ice install I looked into subs behind the seats. Either a JL 6" or 8" mainly so that I could keep boot space.

Unfotunately without losing the spare and making a custom box to fit in the space it isn't possible, and certainly not behind the passenger seat where the petrol tank is in the way.

People have put subs in the passenger footwell, but this involves cutting metal. Or 6" subs in fibreglass boxes under the passenger dash area.

Or Aura bass shaker under the seats as Mikey has.

I think my 10" in the tool area doesn't take any more space than having the tools in there. Combind with the bass adjust remote on the RF 551X amp gives a lot of control to the amount of bass.

Also the Alpine box just drops in there!

Have a look at the Inifinity Uniplane series of speakers/subs. I haven't seen them in years, but I'm sure they used to be really thin as people mounted them in the footwells.

Problem is at these frequencies it is about moving high volumes of air! Hence the use of subs. I had the same problem and could not find a solution I was happy with. I tried the Blaupunkt/Panasonic compact sub but wasn't happy with it (not enough air movement).

So I went for the Bass Shakers in the seats. The low frequencies are transmitted straight though the seat in to you so you feel it rather than hear! Great senstation but no quite the same a powerful sub!
