loud cracking / high pitch crunch :(
Had my 3 year service at Brindley honda a week ago. My 51 has only done 18,000 miles. Service went ok - not much wrong. Drove 15 miles home, no problem.
Next drive, As I pull off, I hear a loud crack - sounds like tension slipping on a wheel nut or a bearing shattering - sounded awful. Slowely drove home.
It did it again as I pulled into my road and into my drive !!! Seems to happen when I pull away or break when the front wheels are turned 1/2 lock.
Taking it back as soon as I can
Any ideas / advice welcome

I've never had the crack after washing the car - so I cant really tell if its similar.
It does sound like its coming from the front drivers side wheel. I've poked around underneath and everything looks normal from what I can see - no moved bolts etc.
The only way I can think of describing it is creaking / cracking of metal. Aweful

Hmmm - that could be it. It does sound like a tension crack. My first guess was that it was a wheel nut cracking due to being too tight / too loose as slipping.
Its happened a few times. a couple of really loud ones, and a few quieter ones. It is only when pulling away / slowing at the same time as slightly cornering....

If it's primarily pulling away and cornering (tightly or slightly) then it is quite likely to be the hub nut as X-Ruckus suggested. Take a print out of the TSB thread pictures to your dealer, should only take them 20 mins.
