Lost Drive 2nd Gear

Lost Drive 2nd Gear
Good Evening Fellas,
Perhaps someone can answer this question as im not the most knowledgable on cars.
I was nailing my car in 2nd gear on a straight road and then when it got to about 6500 revs it was like I was in neutral, like I had no drive in the car and I got no acceleration when I pushed the pedal. The road was wet and so I am wondering if it was something to do with traction control or limited slip diff? This is what I am assuming to prevent me from skidding the rear wheels. I did not see any lights flash up in the car.
My old VW golf had traction control and I remember what that used to be like, this instance however with my s2k was a different kettle of fish.
Have not had such a powerful car before so this is all new to me.
Any information greatly appreciated.

I let it idle for about 20 secs in the car park in work before I set off (I follow the Honda manual instructions). My mate however who has an RX8 never sets up until his temp gauge has gone up to normal.

You can't use Vtec until the engine is warm enough, otherwise the rev limiter kicks in to stop you doing any damage to the engine.
The temp gauge is different in the newer ones, but mine has to be on three bars before I can get into Vtec. Yours will be more. Someone with a newer model will be able to clarify.
Even so, it's not usually recommended to boot it until after about ten minutes of driving. That gives the oil chance to warm up (rather than just the water, which is what the gauge shows).

Blimey, thanks for the tip, I hope I have not done any damage to my engine and created fretting corrosion. I only bought my precious 3 weeks ago (2.6k miles on the clock).

It'll be fine. Just don't make a habit of it.
I was lying about mine actually. My 6k rev limiter hasn't worked since I fitted a new speedo converter.

It shouldn't have damaged anything mate, that's what the (hidden) cold red line is there for.
The only time I did it was when I was pulling onto a dual carriageway into fast traffic. I've never slammed a car into third gear so fast!

I always let mine have three bars or more before I start vtecing as I discovered very early on that it just goes as flat as a fart
