are you having more work done than just the head gasket? would be a waste if thats all you are planning.

Yep just the head gasket at the moment, I have insurance and warranty to think of.

Should give a nice small boost, and hopefully the fitting wont cost the earth and it will be cheap'ish BHP

So how does the ECU know to try and up the compression then (if its capable of doing that)? I must admit I know bugger all about how the compression can be altered on a modern engine (although I think I understand the principle) :interestedbutscepticalsmilie:

head gasket is not really a small job, will you need new head bolts or are the S's re useable. start replacing head gaskets whilst in warranty might as well say goodbye to it, they will not cover you on that.

As I understand it, the ECU has nothing to do with the compression going up. Its purely mechanical, as the Spoon HG is thiner = higher compression.

Well i'm think of it as:

Unless i have a complete engine failure (not likely) there not going to strip the head off, so for most things tranny, electrical etc i should not have a problem... what they dont know and all that. Its not like having a bloody great SC bolted to the engine
