Looking to buy an S
Hi all,
I am looking to buy an S2000, I had a test drive in one last weekend, it seemed awesome and confirmed it will be my next car! That particular car was a high tax later car and so probably out of budget at £10k
I can stretch to about £8-9k, what should I be looking for based on this budget? From my own research I reckon a higher mileage 05/04 plate "GT" car would be good to aim for (I'd prefer the low tax car too).
A few questions:
1. Would it be better to get a low mileage older car?
2. Does a full Honda service history count for much?
3. As we head for winter is now the right time to haggle for more expensive cars and try to get a good deal?
4. What should I be looking for in terms of problems? I looked at the soft top, what about the oft mentioned suspension bushes, can these be looked at prior to buying? What about common rust areas and the engine/drivetrain?
5. In terms of running costs, would the car be much more in fuel/tyres than an EP3 Civic Type R? (I've found a good price for Insurance so this should be fine.)
6. Is there anything else I should be looking at?
Any help or advice appreciated,
Thanks!

Hi and welcome,
If you haven't already, start here: https://www.s2ki.com/...ead-this-first/ and have a thorough read of the FAQ here: https://www.s2ki.com/...T&f=25&t=301506 also, you can find lots by using the search (hint )

Specifically:
- Mileage isn't that relevant, condition is more so
- Depends, some dealers are better than others, some folk won't use the dealers at all, personally, I'd prefer it
- Convertible cars are generally cheaper approaching winter than approaching summer
- Rust in the rear arches not much elsewhere
- Not much different, may be cheaper for tyres if you go for 16s. Fuel much the same
