1. Change down a gear, VTEC in 1st and 2nd is rapid! (and the other gears)
2. Get an Invidia or HKS
3. Essential mod is upgrade the driver, you don't lose that investment when you change cars

I've just come from an Impreza P1, I can honestly say the low down punch in my new 06 S2000 is a revalation. Really wasn't expecting it to be as good!

After previously owning a Civic Type-R, which I thought was gutless low down and boring up top, th S2000 is awesome in comparison!

Get yourself along to the next Herts meet. A good way to have a look at some modded cars and find out more about them.

P.S. There is a bargain of a modified car in the 'for sale' at the moment.

Thanks for the virtual beer
Agreed, check out the for sale's.

And........... if you get to the next Herts meet you might even see it there.

Hi Mate,

Just bought mine a few weeks ago. I too was worried about the low down grunt, I came from a Fiat Coupe 20VT with over 200 ft/lb from 2500rpm. TBH I don't thinks its that bad at all, it seems to pull better from low down that the 350Z I tested at the same time Just don't shift early when you're pressing on

I'd disagree with Jonny about the Z - one of the strongest engines all-through I've ever driven, absolute rocket-ship. I didn't like the steering, handling, or unwieldiness of the thing.

Back to the S2000:-
Mid-range power - I know what you mean, it does need a bit more. But as they've said, mods to an F20C are $$$. VTEC controller is cheap enough to buy and set up, and will adjust the VTEC cut-over to wherever you want (in reason). Otherwise, do some research on what induction / exhaust manifolds improve the mid-range most.
But basically learn to use the gearbox lots - I'm coming from a 'teg Type R and finding I need to shift more often.

Noise - decide whether you want more induction (typical VTEC snarl), exhaust (bassier bark), or both. There's a few choices around for both...

Mods - not a fat lot necessary, but depends what you're coming from. I miss the communication of the 'teg, so I'm going to get front- and rear X-braces and a front strut-brace, which will stiffen the chassis, make the break-away a little more progressive, and improve the feedback from the chassis. I think you've hit on the other two obvious areas for improvement.

TBH I think the one I drove was duff, I timed the 40-100 in top gear, took over 14 seconds. My Fiat Coupe used to do 10.5. I agree with you about the rest of the car though, bit of a barge
