Default A Little Question

Morning People

I am Flying out to Sri Lanka next week for 3 weeks and was wondering if the battery in my car battery would survive that long without being used? i don’t have anywhere to run a trickle charger to my car nor will it be garaged so i don’t really want to disconnect the battery as it wouldn’t be alarmed.

Cheers Guys

Paul

I am sure it will be fine, seems to be a lot of worry around leaving cars without disconnecting batteries. I left my S for 3+ weeks on a number of times and it always started on the button.

I bought an AA Solar Panel charger that connects to the internal OBD2 socket for £25.
Looks like it's working, no hesitation whatsoever after 1+ week standing.

I've got something similar but connects directly to the battery and the wire can be fed through the wing into the cabin. I plonk the panel on the dash and it starts up much better if I've left the car for a couple of weeks

It might crank a little slower after 3 weeks but won't be much more than that, just take it for a nice drive when you're back and all is fixed

Depends how old your battery is, what alarm you have and how well charged it is when you leave. I think mine would be ok for 3 weeks.

What about removing your battery before you go. Placing it inside your house. Come back to a fully charged battery and car is not stolen

This is what I did to my Civic while I was on a week long snowboarding trip.

And it it were pulled onto a low loader and stolen, guess what NOT INSURED as you would have deliberatly disabled the alarm.

A warning to anyone leaving the car with the battery dissconected, better to remove a stratigic fuse or two, but not the alarm.
