The secret of buying things from the states is to insist on them using USPS (United States Postal Services), which is also usually the cheapest delivery option.

The items then get delivered in the UK by the post office and you rarely get charged VAT .... or clearance fees.

TBH I don't think that makes a great deal of difference. I had two parcels sent from the States both via USPS, and ParcelFarce delivered them to me in the UK, and I was asked to pay VAT on both of them.

Also marking them up as a gift doesn't seem to make any difference either It's the amount that seems to be the most important thing.

I think this comes down to size .....

Anything big sent USPS tends to end up with Parcelfarce
