Default leaky hood

noticed some water on the carpet on the drivers side, and also on the speaker grill in the door. on further inspection it appears that in heavy rain there is a leak through the joint between the door, glass and 'a' pillar. there is no obvious damage to the seals in this area so is it a back to the dealer job or is there something i can apply to the seals to help?

If you are under warranty go back to the dealer.

I had this, without warranty and did the following:-

Ensure the seals are completely dry (Good luck today )

Clean the windows with window / glass cleaner / vinegar to ensure they are absolutely clean.

Wash the seals (scrub with some pressure), all of them, with soap and water and remove all contaminents.

Apply Zymol (I had some..dunno if its the best) seal conditioner. Follow the instructions to the letter.

Leave it to dry properly (24 hours, sunny day is useful)

Pray to him on high

It worked for me and has kept them watertight for a year.

I spread my seeman (hehe, that silicone seal stuff) on all my rubbers and now when I put the hood up and close the windows it forms a perfect seal, so good you get a suction sound when you open the door, like coming out of an air lock

its under the honda used car warranty which i bet excludes this sort of thing. i've got some halfords vinyl and rubber lubricant which used to work well on the seals my old mr2 t-bar so i might give that a go as a first step.

I recently used the aforementioned product to do my seals. The only problem now is that I have some rather nasty seemann stains on my windows (couldn't resist that one). Having gone to such lengths to protect the seals I dont want to use a cleaning product that will affect the rubber where it touches the glass. Does anybody have any advice on what to use to clean off said stains ?

Cheers

stop dogging and you might not get any more stains.
