I think they should go the whole hog and put the 2.2 diesel in it.
It's not as daft as it sounds, it would be a very fast car, if they can get it far enough back to counteract the extra weight over the nose.
Plus 50 mpg making it fast and economic.....smack ow!
Sorry, I just shut my head in the desk drawer

I hope any "replacement" is radically different, not a marginal rework. The S2000 is excellent, not compromised (too much) from being a pure convertible sports car as intended. Let it "die" like that and become a classic as such.

AFAIK the S2000 was a demonstration of Honda's engineering abillity to commomerate the new millenium.
They threw everything they had into it then.
It would be a motoring travesty and ludicrous incongruity of style to make something as suggested in that dirty car mag !

OK, but put it in a development of the HSC as a Super-Boxster/Super-Beat car!
A 986>987 change worked fine for Porsche, but I just cannot see it working with the AP1.

A 2.4L making 250 hp would be rather bland, unless the car weighed 2000lbs while they are at it. But then that's been done right?
If they can't make us go wow again, they should not bother and let it go the way of the dohdoh.
I think it is time for a 4wd turbo roadster weighing 2500 lbs with 300+hp to shutup the Evo / GT-R / Scoobie crews! They can do it, its just a matter of cahones! Specially if the engine code was F20Ct!!!!
