Afternoon all

I've finally got my hands on last week's issue of Autocar with their annual 0-100-0 challenge and it made me wonder what the S2000's time is?

I'm aware that the 0-100mph is mid 14s, but considering how great the brakes are, I wonder if the car would place well against such lardy competition as the 350Z or Z4?

Any thoughts?

Z4 not that lardy, but probably not fantastic - the off-the-line isn't good enough in the S2000, and frankly that's not what it's for.

Personally I only find the brakes good, not excellent - IMHO the 'teg had far better stoppers (200kg lighter!), and my Focus doesn't feel far off either.

Unless your teg was stripped out it's only 100kg lighter than an S

Officially maybe (130-140kg IIRC). But most S2000's end up with dry weights around 1,250kg, which is what Honda quote. And the 'teg had a kerb weight of, IIRC, 1120kg inc. aircon, which was actually pretty close for most cars.

The braking is helped by very hard suspension and low centre of gravity meaning the back brakes can do some work but I'd expect in the 20s-22s region? Can't find any stats online.

The 350Z has awesome Brembo brakes that really do defy the weight of the car. IMO they the 350Z has much better brakes than the S, just not sure what the difference of stopping distance would be.

I would say the S would be fairly close the 350Z. The new 350Z will be a shade quicker to 100mph as the old car was the same.
