Laquer coming off
Hi
Quite a long time ago I had my front bumper sprayed as it had a bad case of gravel rash/pitting.
Today I noticed a few patches were the Laquer has peeled/flaked off.
I'm wondering if I could simply get it relaquered or would it require a full respray and relaquered?
Makes me think the bodyshop did a poor job in the beginning?
Cheers

Cheers mate its just happened recently I did look at the paint and in my limited knowledge it looks okay.
Do you think its down to a poor paint job? I IRC it was around 3 years ago that I had resprayed etc.

if they laquered it badly, its likely they painted it badly as well, might be worth getting them redone.

the paint might be alright, only reasons i can think of the laquer peeling is if the fresh paint wasn't prepped properly; or if they used cheap laquer, or if the surface was slightly contaminated with grease, from a finger or something.
the difficulty with repairs is that its not the whole bumper being sprayed. with overlaying a small patch if you like their is the chance water might get unde rit and lift it like a scab.
a whole respray of a bumper is better than small sections.

Possibility of some paint contamination as RT said in the application of the base coats. One typical example of this can be someone using a can of WD40 next door. I would not risk just adding some fresh lacquer myself.
