Default Laptop suitable for AEM EMS?

Hi folks,
Just wondering what laptops people use for connecting to their AEM's, do people have one with a serial port or using a PCMCIA card to serial port?
Looking to buy a cheap one for downloading settings!
Thanks in advance.

I bought a USB to serial port adaptor to connect my laptop to the Racelogic unit.

I imagine that would work OK.
