Lack of tweeters! How to improve sound?
With the lack of tweeters higher up on the 01 door cards as opposed to later models, I find that when I am driving alone in my car, the sound is great, but sounds muffled when I have a passenger.
I have an Alpine head unit with ipod connection, decent pioneer door speakers and a pioneer sub under each seat so the sound is pretty decent. it just annoys me how much top end I lose with a passenger.
Anyone else had this problem? Am I better off fitting tweeters higher up on the door card in order to mimic the later door cards or would speakers fitted behind the seats (not in headrests) be a better option.
My concern with fitting tweeters in the door cards is that they may look pants as im guessing they would stick out from the door.
Any advise??

I fitted tweeters in the roll hoops, they came in a spherical holder around 40 mm in diameter just used double sided sticky pads, other option is tuck them in the corner between windscreen pillar and dash, both options are easy to do and dont do any damage to the car.

If I already have my door speakers and powered subs coming from the back of my alpine head unit, will I have any more outputs to attach tweeters?
Sorry, im good with home audio but have no idea with car audio.

Component speaker use the same feed as you current door speakers, but the difference is it goes through a crossover which basically splits the channel into 2 :-
High frequency's - tweeters
Low/mid - main driver.
You'll need some crossovers and some tweeetersor alternatively by some new component speakers and you'll get everything you need in one box.

Get new componants though. They're well worth it, I would buy a decent brand with good spec's aswell.

I dont think its the quality of my door speakers thats a problem. They are decent pioneer speakers and sound good. its just that they both get completely blocked when a passenger is in the car meaning the sound becomes muffled.
