Default Kw to bhp?

Been reading the following article about the new VW Golf R32 - http://www.wheels24.co.za/Wheels24/News/0,...1540048,00.html

The article states that the car will have 188kw, but I can't remember what the conversion is? My old S3 had 164kw and was 225bhp, so its not looking promising for the R32!

I was a huge fan of the last R32, but went the roadster route instead. As for my next car, its I may go hard top and let the trouble and strife get a 2 seat roadster. Not really convinced of the 'practicalities' of having two roadsters. If the R32 comes with the expected 280bhp, and drive as well as the GTI it would be appealing.

Googling quickly results in 240bhp being about 177Kw. I don't know if as a measure of power output you can convert one to the other but if you can 1Kw is about 1.36 bhp.

Yeah seems to be a minor tweak of the engine in the original R32.
I'm sure AMD etc will tweak it though! IIRC they got 274 bhp out of the Mk1 R32.

1Hp = 746W (0.746KW)

It follows from the definition of one horsepower which is 33,000 foot pounds per minute

A Horse could lift 330 pounds of coal a distance of 100 feet in one minute.

Impressed that the illustration shows a stretched chrome Honda badge across the front.
