Known Issues - 110,000 Mile S2000's
Was just looking for the know issues with a high mileage S2000,
This is the car the question refers too, I don't think i'd be tempted by this one, but maybe if one came up closer to my location it's within budget.
113,000 S2000 - Advice??
What sort of things should be checked when viewing / test drive?
I got an insurance quote for a S2000 this month, £1670 so its starting to become a realistic dream
Rgds,
Jason.

Nothing out of the ordinary really like other cars, things to look at are...
The roof
rust on wheel arches etc
sticking calipers
corroded brake/fuel lines
o2 sensor map possibly
Exhaust rusting where pipes meet backbox
My car is high mileage 'now', but I have put slot of miles on it but most importantly I have maintained it well and not booted the shit out of it all the time - something you can't guarantee with this car which could be a problem with high mileage.
What am saying is you don't how it's been treated/maintained, and don't believe the hype they don't automatically blow up after 100k . If it's cheap maybe worth a punt.

Surely the 3 cars for sale in the owners section would be a much better bet, althoogh they are all 2000 reg they have a lot less miles for the same price and have been enthusiast maintained.

The F20C doesn't seem to withstand the huge mileages in the same way that older Honda engines traditionally have.
You're taking more of a gamble buying a higher mileage S2k that you would be with any other honda.
Personally, i'd steer clear.

I suspect that might be due to raving lunatics throwing them round a track without a baffled sump & occasionally using the rev limiter as a gear change light - there's a lot of stresses @ 9K and above...

Agree on CV joints. Mines on 126k and mine vibrate when the car has a full boot and a passenger.
Also my diff is noisy and needs replacing (spare in the garage), so will be doing both at the same time.
