Either wheel bearing, or CV joint pitting. More likely to be CV joint pitting from the description - it's also more common on the S than wheel bearing problems (at least so far.).

Since it's a MY2002, you're stil under warranty, so it's one to take up with the dealer. They may not know about the CV problem, but they will recognise the sound if it is the wheel bearing. If it is the CV, then don't accept just having the joint re-greased - it wants replacing. Preferably both sides.

My rear drivers side bearing went at 19,000 miles. Dry splines will make noise as will the CV joint.
