[QUOTE=dreamer,Jul 5 2006, 03:17 PM] Said person would need to have a knowledgeable nose around the car and maybe drive it..

Which racing team? This one has been maintained by a team too....
They only campaign a couple of minis - private outfit I believe, although he seems to know plenty folk up there.

Foz would be your best bet I reckon, although I think he's pretty busy.

An AA or RAC check would be a good starting point Jo.

I've used the AA checks in the past when looking at certain cars, and they've been knowledgable enough to warn me off a couple of cars that otherwise I'd have bought.

I think it's a Caterham race car, not sure what an AA man would make of that

Jo, will you get to rag it/see it get ragged round Knockhill?
Yes As would whoever goes for the prelim check...

And the AA man would be useless - I've seen them fail to spot an ECU chip and an oil leak in a road going Audi, god knows what they'd make of a race prepped Caterham!

I think you'd be far better asking the question on a Caterham board - there may well be recognised independents who will do inspections for you. When I was looking at both Tamoras and 993s, I found details of a couple of well-known and respected individuals who would carry out inspections at the place of sale.

(I appreciate you're looking for someone to give it a preliminar once-over to begin with, but if Caterhams are so specific I suspect that isn't going to tell you a lot if the person inspecting it doesn't know a great deal about them)

Yeah I'd just prefer it was someone I vaguely knew and had a bit of a rapport with already.

Plus I haven't stumped up the fee over there, which you have to do before you can post

But possibly, although I don't think you'd need to be a specialist in Caterhams - I'm just not sure how you tell if a chassis straight

Can't believe I just read that!

Jo,
I know a few guys that go there regularly and I will email them your request but as they are mostly Lambo/Ferrari guys I am not sure if they will be able to assist.

Sorry! Although tbh I only really investigate cars I have any chance of owning, I don't have the time for everything else!
