Thumbs up kangerooing S2K

After some help guys. My S2000 seems to be Kangerooing intermitantly when driving along, and Kangeroos intermitantly when on light load 1st 2nd or 3rd gear when pulling away from a junction at low speed/rpm. I am running the car on Optimax, and last had the car serviced a year ago (I have the car booked in for Thursday to be serviced). The car has done 9800 miles and is a 53 04MY. Any ideas ???

The engine is drawing in warm air when you are sat at a junction, A spoon or replica snorkle should cure it.

They all do it when stood in traffic - its nothing that a quick blip of the throttle won't cure before you move off.

Try a Map Whack! i'm sure it's detailed in here somewere. My 'stutter' issue occured higher up the rev range, but it's not unheard of for the map sensor to get a bit clogged up. Mine was doing it after similar mileage. Essentially, get a rubber ended hammer and 'whack' the sensor, located just above the air intake.

It's worth a go! My dealership had the car in twice, before i suggested the map sensor might need a whack and hay presto, it sorted it!

Not quite. The 06 seems to have been cured with a DBW throttle and a new airfilter. Used to get it a lot in my previous 03 though.

This does not sound like a MAF problem and even if it was, I wouldn't wack it, more gently tap it. The MAF problem tends to cause a stutter when accelerating, rather than the full blown kangaroo's.

well yeah, i think it's affectionatly referred to as a map whack. When i said hammer, i probably meant to say rubber ended screwdriver!!!

Anyway, a stutter under acceleration is exactly what it was, and map 'tickle' sorted it.

i'll shut up now!

On both points!

Sounds like good old heat bog! Snorkel and filter change should sort it!

Bust the MAP and it will cost you!
What other senstive electronics do you whack to fix

I've never had this on my MY05. Bit hard to trickle the car along in 1st in slow moving - stop - start traffic but other then that fine.
