Kangeroo Juice
After sitting in a traffic jam for an hour on the M25 carpark this evening the S2K seemed to develop a will to kangeroo, particularly around 3k rpm. This continued for a while, as did the traffic jam, so does anyone know what might have caused this? The temp gauge read normal.

Temp gauge reads ok because the cooling system is doing it's job and cooling the engine.
The kangarooing is due to the poor positioning of the airbox in the S2000 engine bay. After a period in slow moving traffic, the airbox draws in the hot air that has built up in the engine bay - rather than the cool air that is forced in when you are moving at speed.
There are a lot of alternative Cold Air Intakes (CAIs) available that have differing claims - more power, more noise, less kangarooing - and each has their own benefits.
There is not a lot you can to do to resolve the problem without replacing the OEM airbox, but replacing it with another sort or buying an intake extension to draw cold air directly into the box rather than via the engine bay might help. I don't think anything will COMPLETELY eradicate the problem though.
If it happens, first make sure you reduce the amount of accelerator. Due to the sensitive nature of the pedal, the first kangaroo makes your foot press down a little more, making the problem worse and worse and worse with each subsequent jolt forwards. Next thing is to ride the clutch a little and pull away with higher revs. After you've got moving it should be ok. It is a low revs problem.
:Phew:
